We have all seen so many different small business ideas. Some of them are good and some really need to just go away. I have found that a close examination of the CEO, CIO, COO and CFO is essential to make a wise determination as to the long term success of the company. Of these positions the most important is the CEO. Have they been successful with other small businesses ideas and taken them through substantial growth.

If the firm is a network marketing business you should also scrutinize the CMO. Not only is this person usually the top of the food chain but they set the scale for performance. They also are responsible for the small business ideas compensation plan.

So this leads us to the compensation plan. It is obvious but this is usually why you and others are going to join the business. Is the plan easy to understand? You want a plan that has several options for payment but also rewards leadership. It is important that the people that are your business partners are also compensated for your success. This will encourage them to take an active roll in helping you grow your business.

Now I want to talk about, what I believe is the most important element of success to the small business ideas which is, what are you selling?  Many companies have products that are being sold and many people have done very well selling the products but here is the product downfall for small business idea opportunities. First off, the firm usually requires the new representative to pay for an entrance fee then they have to purchase several hundred dollars worth of product.

Have you ever seen somebody with half their garage full of soap, lotion and pills? This happens because the company usually requires the consultant to place the product on auto ship with the idea that the consultant will sell a certain number of the items every month, which doesn’t happen.

This is why I prefer a service that it sold that the customer already uses and needs. These types of small business ideas are the best in my opinion. They are usually in the form of cable, phone internet, electricity or natural gas service. I like these small business ideas best because the customer automatically reorders every month and there is no way I can store it in my garage.
